Baby Girl

Romantic love is fickle. It also by it’s very nature is impermanent. Only if two people are committed can it last; but that takes two people wanting it. Even people who have been married over 30 years can end up getting divorced. There are no guarantees in two strangers coming together. There are no rules of engagement. No guarantee anyone will fight fair. Even if you get married there is only a promise and there is nothing that can make someone honor their promise.

There are only a few ways I believe we can experience lasting love in this lifetime; The love of God or whatever you call the super conscious, the love of a parent for a child, the love of a pet or if you are extremely fortunate, the joint commitment with a stranger.

This song I wrote as a lullaby for my now grown daughter. You can never be too old to have someone sing you to sleep. I love her more than life itself. I know there are lots of parents that don’t love their children and plenty of children that don’t like their parents but that is fortunately not an issue with me and my daughter. My baby girl, you are a beautiful soul. May you know this at the deepest part of your being.

Baby girl

When you were born the angels sang and carried you into the room. You were healthy and free and never sad. You remembered heaven so soon. But life was hard and memories fade. Soon you forgot your truth. But I know nothing can ever take that love that’s still in you.

Baby girl. Remember. It’s all within you. Remember. You are loved.

Sung you to sleep and held your hand, played princess and baked with you, took you on hikes and bought you pets and painted art too. But now you’re a young woman and maybe lost your way. Just remember you’re never alone. My love is here to stay.

Remember where you come from and you will find that love. It’s unconditional always near. It comes from up above. You’re loved more than you remember. Perfect in every way. The sky’s the limit so spread your wings. Be all you can be this day.
